If you are a parent you probably spend a lot of your waking hours worrying about your child. It doesn’t matter how old your child is – you worry about whether or not they are getting enough nutrition, if they are growing as expected, or if they are achieving academic learning milestones.

How do I know this?

Because I am a parent, too.

There is always enough worry to go around. Adding to that, the universe at times throws curve balls at us. There are times when we have to disrupt our daily routines to stay healthy as that is always paramount when it comes to our kids,  as well as our community.

Due to COVID-19, a lot of schools are closed and kids are home. As a parent, I am grateful for the conscious and careful decisions that the school administrators have taken in light of this current state of unknown. At the same time, I am also grappling with the idea that my kids are missing school. As much as I want my kids to be playing, I want their time to be spent in a productive way as well.

Never entirely replacing the learning experience that my child will have in the classroom, I have discovered that there are technology-driven apps that will help my kids learn while they are at home. This also directly relates to the reason I created PopSmartKids.

I find it challenging to keep my kids occupied when I have to hop on a meeting with my team, proofread that proposal on my computer or just catch up on some essential chores. Thankfully, there are quite a few apps that will keep them engaged in a meaningful way. In my home, we are big fans of the kids A-Z apps for my five-year-old and then KhanAcademy for my nine-year-old. We also have apps that are seriously fun games. Then, of course, there are the good old board games.

At PopSmartKids, we have an app called PopSmartWrite that encourages children to create their own stories through drawings, pictures, and text. Remember the pictures you took at those lovely mid-winter ski trips you took with your family or that recent visit from the cousins? You can use PopSmartWrite to write a story with them.

Kids love to explore on their digital devices as much as they love to play outside. Mentoring my kids to use technology for creative projects, helps them build a constructive and healthy relationship with their digital devices. While I am getting work done and not actively playing with my children, I get to witness a beautiful story or piece of artwork that my child has created. Knowing that my child is actively creating content rather than just mindlessly consuming it gives me peace of mind — even amongst the craze.

I know this is one small token that would give you peace of mind too.

This app has been a labor of love for me.

Especially in light of the times, if I can offer to my fellow moms, one less thing to stress about, I want to do what I can. Therefore, we are offering our new app, PopSmartWrite, for just 99 cents per month for the next 3 months. My hope is that PopSmartWrite actively encourages having an imagination and keeping the mind working outside the classroom. My goal is that other parents such as myself, can find solace in knowing that their children always have a creative, productive outlet. Thank you for continuing to support PopSmartWrite and sharing with your friends and family. Together, we can create a community of visionaries and learners in the next generation.

So, here’s to everyone’s good health.
